An interesting blog as always. It's a very emotive subject. When we are so passionate about singing that we give our everything to it, it puts us in a very vulnerable place. The fear of "failure" can be overwhelming. I think you put it in a nutshell in the last line, regarding trusting the "teacher". You really have to BELIEVE in that person and their ability in order to let go of the railings and take their hand.
