This arrangement was originally commissioned by the Cottontown Chorus as the closer for their Mary Poppins show set, building on their contest numbers from the same musical. The song presents a simple metaphor of a soaring kite as a way to get your spirits likewise aloft, and clothes it in a tune that cannot help but cheer you up. Once you get this song in your head, it is virtually impossible to stop singing it.

The SATB version follows the TTBB original arrangement in form and gesture, though with significant re-voicing to fit the ranges of a mixed voice barbershop ensemble. The tessitura is relatively high for SATB, due to the preferred ranges of the chorus who asked for the re-voicing, but the arrangement will work up to a minor 3rd lower for a group with a lower range profile. The re-work also tweaks the harmonic choices to make the arrangement suitable for barbershop contest.

The other songs in this package are:

Spoonful of Sugar/Jolly Holiday Medley
Mary Poppins Medley (Chim-chimeniee, Step in Time and Supercalifragilistic...)
